TIMARU WOOL SALE
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) TIMARU, Dec. 10. The iirsfc wool sale of the 1929-30 season was held to-day, when catalogues aggregating 13,3.57 bales wore offered, compared with 11,984 at the corresponding sale last year. A bench of buyer's, fully representative of the wool consuming countries of the world, operated. Bradford anti the Continent were the principal operators with' local mills competing keenly for top lots. The"* bidding was inclined to be erratic, values in most cases tending a fraction more than the buyers were prepared to offer. There were more passings than usual. There was very little demand for merino, offerings of" which were much lighter than usual. Prices generally were slightly easier than those obtained at the recent Clijristchurch sale.
The following was the range of prices:—Merino super Hid to 123 d, average 93d to lO.jd. Half bred super 12Id to 14:1, average 9yd to 113, inferior fid to 83d. Threequarterbred super Hid to 123 d, average 93d to 10)d, inferior 8d to 9}d. Crossbred super 9Vd to 10;]d, average 83 d to 9 : \d, inferior 8d to 9d. Corriedale super 11 -3d to 13ld, average lOd to IHd. Pieces super 10.)d to 113 d, average 81 d to lOd, inferior old to Bd. Bell ieccs, good to super 83d to 9J-d, low to medium fi',d to Sfd. Crutchjugs, good to super 7d to 101, medium od to Gi. Necks lOd to 113 d.
