WRONGED A GIRL. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 14 Thomas Whitnull Churches, 27, found guilty on a charge of defrauding his creditors by gift, delivery or transfer of a motor cycle, was placed on probation by Air Hunt, SAL, at the Police Court. The Alagistrate, addressing accused said: “It appears to me that you Avronged the girl. She sued you and Avas awarded £2OO damages. You paid her nothing. The girl’s sister applied to the Supreme Court for you to slicnV cause why you should not pay. While case was being heard you arranged for your petition in bankruptcy to be filed. You Avill be admitted to probation for three years oh condition that you pay the Avhole of the money to the girl at the rate of one pound a week. If you don’t pay £1 a Aveek regularly,' you will have broken the terms of your probation, and Avill be sent to gaol for three months. You can calculate how many months you Avill do if you don’t pay.”

MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. HAAVERA, Dec. 16

As a result of a motor cycle collision on the main highways about H miles north of Hawera at midnight'on Sunday, Hugh Herbert Hill, aged about 22, single, Avas killed outright. Dorothy Cross, single about 20, Avho had been a pillion passenger on Hill’s machine suffered a fractured skull, jaAV and leg. Russell Alexander Hurley, aged 22, who was riding solo on the other cycle involved suffered head injuries and fractured leg. The big game fishing season has opened Avith a SAving at Mercury Bay, their being a large run‘of both Alako sharks and swordfish. , Corning in yesterday, Mr John Mead brought in two Makos, weighing 350 lbs and 330!bs. respectively, these being caught outside Mercury Island, where Zaire Grey Avas fishing last year. The present indications are for a tremendous run of fish.
