ARTHUR’S PASS

MEETING OF BOARD OF CONTROL. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 14. Members of the Arthur’s Pass National Park Board of Control met yesterday afternoon. Mr W. Stewart (Commissioner of Crown Lands) presided. There were present:—Dr E. Teichelraann, Professor / R.. Speight, Dr W. McKay, Messrs J. K. Archer, R. Twyneham, G. Harper, W. K. MrAlpine, A. Dudley Dobson, and F. W. Freeman. I Mr S. T. Barnett, of the Lands and Survey Department, was appointed permanent secretary and treasurer. It was reported that efforts wei <• being made to obtain contributions from various interested local bodies. A small surcharge on railway excursion fares had also been suggested. The proposed by-laws regulating the use of the park were discussed at length and agreement was reached cn the main points. When finally drafted, the by-laws will be sent to the Governor-General for approval.
