The etcetrns bong provided for tlie local tourist resorts in the way of lints, tracks, and improved access, should

There has been a considerable amount of publicity broadcasted' as to the various local attractions, and reports received point to a good inllow of traffic lor the holidays. The fact that a motorists’ camp has now been centred at the Hokitika racecourse, requires to lie known only to he patronised. Lake Kanieri has received some attention, and is sure to he popular with visL tors for its charms in hush and lakeside scenery are undeniable. It is a pity the water-way to Lake Mahinapua.has not had earlier attention, so that aquatic transport would he possible regularly, hut the New Year should see this convenience possible. In any case, motor transport to the lakeside, via Ruatapu, is possible now, ymd the route is being improved considerably at present by the authorities, so that motoring to that very attractive picnic location is now possible regularly. The roads leading to the Hokitika Gorge, the Styx, and other scenic drives, have also been improved, so that there is diversity and variety in the locations for picnic outings this season. The' South Westland scenes will hold most probably, pride of place with touring visitors. The glaciers have come to he regarded as something of their proper worth in outstanding novelty. Both the Fran/. .Josef and Fox glaciers supply unique attractions, and the ease of access to the remarlcable wonderland of ice, is a factor in drawing people from all parts oi the world. Those on holiday bent invariably set off in joyous spirit and are ready to be entertained. Visitors south are never disappointed in tlml respect, for nature presents a wonderful and unexcelled panorama, and there is more than entertainment provided. The sight-seer is impressed with the grandeur of it all, and carries away impressions and reflections which remain for long after as to the art of nature, and the interwoven beauty which nature creates by the happy arrangements of natural features in settings no less natural, hut always wonderful. A holiday in Westland seems to present attractions which in the aggregate are incomparable for the beauty and variety of nature’s handiwork.
