ISLAND DISASTER
DAMAGE FROM HURRICANE. (United Press Association.— By Electrio SUVA, December 13. The auxiliary schooner Helena, owned by Terry and bon, is a total loss on the Tavenui coast. There was no casualties. Several hundred Indians have been rescued from their marooned homes in the lh'wa Valley. Labasa reports the sugar mill buildin,rS there have been much damaged, and most of the private and business premises were demoted or flattened. All stock is practically a total loss. The flood has reached twelve mites inland. The barometer fell at the lowest to 28.44. Seven people are reported to have been drowned in the Rewa Valley. Belief funds have been opened. The banana losses probably will total 75 per cent, of the output for the 'next six months. Three natives were drowned off the l'avenui coast.
