BUTTER MARKET
PROSPECT’S OF A SLUMP. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (Received this day at noon.) LONDON, Dec. 12. “Nothing but the shipwreck of a couple of steamers with a hundred thousand cases each aboard, can prevent the market further collapsing,” stated Major King, of the Butter Control Board. “The mildness of the European winter can partly account *tfor trade stagnation, but the most important reason is the increasing consumption of margarine, which is now marketed in excellent quality, prices ranging from 8d to Is, compared with Is 9d per pound for butter.”
