A prominent Turkish alienist makes the statement that the majority of the Constantinople taxi drivers are insane and are drug addicts. This statement is causing a furious denial by the Chauffeurs’ Union, hut it is being applauded by the citizens, who have been subjected to an alarmingly increasing number of motor accidents. The Municipality «lso sides with the alienists, and is ordering a periodic examination of the chauffeurs, and is promising to send to the asylum those found to ho unbalanced.
