RUMANIAN REGENCY CRISIS. BUCHAREST, October 18. Bitter comments said to have been made by Queen Marie, the grandmother of the boy King Michael, on the recent election of M. Saratseanu to fill the vacancy on the Regency Council caused by the death of M. Buzdugan are published by the newspaper “Universal.” The newspaper authorities declare that although the Queen’s statements were made in an interview not intended for publication, they deliberately commit the indiscretion of publishing them, “for the sake of truth.’ The Regency Council, which holds the monarchical prerogatives during the minority of the King (who is seven), consists of the Patriarch Miron, Prince Nicholas, uncle of the King, and M. Saratseanu, a judge of the Supreme Court. TO REPLACE HER SON. It has been stated that Dr Maniu, the Premier, had previously proposed to the Queen that she should replace her son, Prince Nicholas, as two members of the dynasty on the Council would destroy its equilibrium. In the statement now published Queen Marie denies this view. She declares that her presence would be a help to the Prince and would strengthen the prestige of the dynasty by showing that its members desired to serve the »*nintry. Sue says that both she and Prince Nicholas refused the Premier’s proposal. although the PiVnce was offered an increase in his Civil List emolument in compensation.
