The “Daily Telegraph” reports a development, \i'.n parallel led 'in the history of marine insurance, since Lloyds’ policy was confirmed in 1779. It comes into operation on the first of January next when every cargo insurance policy will be standardised, which should benefit British trade. In the new policy, while following traditional form, it has five additional clauses providing for the prevention of illicit importation of dangerous drugs, the exclusion of war risks, damage by strikers and men locked out claims, when the voyage is frustrated by the “Act of Kings, Princes and Peoples,” and salving or protection of goods without the underwriters admitting liability. REM ARK ABLE WIRELESS SYSTEM. FOR DETECTION OF CRIMINALS. (Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) PARIS, Dec. 8. Tho French police aye inaugurating a remarkable wireless system with the object of keeping the Paris headquarters in rapid communication with the provinces. Wireless messages from the Eiffel Tower will bo able to transmit descriptions of wanted criminals in code, also photographs cf finger prints by the wireless telephoto system. Fifty-one receiving Stations will be established in the provinces, in addition to important stations on the frontier and at ports. BOER SETTLERS. Several hundred Boer families, who settled in Argentine after the South African war, are reported to he petitioning the Union Government to assist them to return hero. llien position is described as deplorable. They are most deeply in debt, possess no title deeds to tlrcir lands and are toldlv hit by the low wool prices.
