SWIMMING
(By Telegraph—Press Association). WHANG ARE I, December 7. Ryan (Australian middle distance swimming champion) took part in a carnival last evening and was defeated by Bi-idson (X.Z. champion) in the 440 yards. The time was 5.40. Bridson took the lead in the fourth lap and was a length ahead at the finish'. Griffiths appeared in several exhibitions and won the hundred yards easily.
