NEWMAN TAKES THE LEAD. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Dec. 4. In the billiards match between ArcCon achy and Newman the latter has now the lead. The scores are as follow ; McConaehy (playing) has scored 15,203, including breaks of 413 and 235. Newman has scored 15,883. including breaks of 378, 575 and 342. Newman took the lead for the first time in the match with a brilliant 578. He scored 1399 in the afternoon with an average of 101, while McConaehy. who was off form, only averaged 38. The New Zealander in the evening made a fine 413, averaging sixtythroe against Newman’s sixty-one. In the other match Lindrum is 3,119 ahead of Smith. Lindrum has scored 20.176, include ing breaks of 720, 426, 603. Smith (in play) lias scored 17,057 including breaks of 529, 330, and 61<j unfinished. Lindrum’s 603 is his fiftythirdbreak of over five hundred during seven weeks, thus heating Smith’s record for the whole of last season. Davis has scored 1141 in a break that is unfinished, and is now 16,921 thus leading Falkiner, who is 15,871. Davis has conceded Falkiner three thousand.
