MINERS ACTION. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY’, Dec. 5. ' A couple of the miners’ lodges of the Maitland collieries held a meeting to consider the coal settlement terms today. Their delegates on the recent conference were literally howled down and were called traitors, the hooting (lasting until the meetings broke up. No decision was rea'ched. Further meetings of other lodges will he held to-morrow and at the week-end. TERMS REJECTED. (Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) S\ T DNE\ T , December 6. Kurri miners lodge rejected the settlement terms and decided to formulate a policy for the' continuance of the coal strike. MINERS REJECT SETTLEMENT. A GENERAL MINING STRIKE CALLED. (Received this day at 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 6. Following the rejection of the coal settlement agreement by four thouliuid miners at Kami, a general I mining strike throughout the Commonwealth was declared hv the Labour Council at a meeting called. , There was considerable debate at a meeting of Kurri miners, who resolved that lodges he instructed immediately to appoint two representatives each to confer with a view to formulating a policy to continue the struggle. (Received this day at 11 a.m./ SYDNEY. Dec. 6. The adverse decision of the Kurri meeting means the end of the present settlement proposals as it is considered impossible that any other centres will accept the terms in the face of the Kurri rejection. The State Cabinet meets shortly to consider their decision to re-open certain mines and the question of continuing the • dole to men who refuse to return to work.
