The New Zealand' Ladies’ Hockey Association recently _approached the Government requesting a grant of £7.10. to' be added to £101)0 already 'tafsod by the Association, fbr the purposel of sending a team to compete in the Empire .Ladies’ Hockey Tournament in South Africa in.-July. August and September, of 1930. The Government's reply, which lias now been received, is to the effect Utha-t, owing to the additional burdens inn.the Consolidated Fund, .it is unable "to'giveAi grant of' the amount • asked for.
Unloss .'-the' additional • money required is- raised by January 31st. when th(‘ entries for the tournament close, the tour will have to be abandoned. If a team is to !>(•■ sent to South Africa, it will be selected from the following, who have been nominated by the selectors; —Goalkeeper, X. Muggins (Wellington); full-hacks. R. Burt (Southland). K. Miller (Wellington). E. Brabazon (Ruahine), A. Brucre (Canterbury); halves; centre. P. Baker (Ruahine). M. Dennis (Ruahine’). right. F. Anderson (Ruahine). left. X. Thomas (Southland). M. Glagdon (Otago): forwards: right wing, J. Burrows (Canterbury), left wing. H. Hoinor (Southland), F. Randle (Ruahine)"; inside forwards. ,J, Parsons (Canterbury),. R. Loader (Ruahine), F. Scldutes (Canterbury). B. Miliiclmmp (Canterbur), M. McIntyre (Southland).
