WOOL SALES. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, December 2. At tlie wool sales to-day, 10,446 bales were sold. Tbe market was about equal to last week, with good competition by tbe Continent, Japan, Russia, and Bradford. Greasy merino brought 22§ pence per pound. PETROL FUMES ABLAZE. MAN, LORRY, AND PUMPS ON FIRE. ADELAIDE, Decernbei 1. J. Hinsey lit a match while the tank of a heated lorry was being filled with petrol. The fumes reached his clothing was burnt off, but he refused to go to hospital and is expected to recover.
NEW POLITICAL PARTY. (Received this dav at 9.26 a.m.) (SYDNEY, Dec. 3. Great enthusiasm at the Chatwood Town Hall marked the founding of a new political party, known as the Australian. Party. The members of the new party, will be led by Mr W. M. Hughes, and are the insurgent Nationalist members, Maxwell, Marks, Duncan, and Greene. FREIGHTER ON REEF. ' SYDNEY, Dec. 3. Caught by a 'southerly squall at Bel lambi, tlm freighter Koojong draged her anchors and was swept on to Bellambi reef where she remained for an hour. The vessel was refloated and rushed to Sydney badly holed. She entered port with a serious list, making water rapidly. Sho was towed to the dock.

As a result of increased duties placed on tobacco, cigars and cigarettes by the Federal Ministry, all retail prices were raised to-day.
