AFTER 18 YEARS

SON'RETURNS HOME

,By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, December 3

To see a son whom he believed to bo killed m the war, walk into his home after an absence of 18 years, was the amazing experience of .John Toliill, of Surrey Street, last week. This son, Patrick, was last seen by his parents in 1911 in Canterbury.

Upon the outbreak of the war his four brothers joined up,, three being killed.

Patrick was debarred by youth even two years alter the war started, but under an assumed name he managed to get away with a Canterbury unit. Ho was wounded in Franco, also suffering from gas shell shock and his injuries were such as caused frequent lapses of memory. As a result lie wandered aimlessly around the world. As his parents were unaware of his assumed name, all efforts to trace liim were unavailing and lie was assumed to be dead.
