CHURCH DISPUTE

A COMMISSION TO ENQUIRE

HAMILTON, Nov. 30,

After protracted negotiations, a document was signed by Bishop Cherrington and Dean Barnett, agreeing, that Archbishop Averill shall appoint a Commission to inquire into the question raised by the Bishop as to the suitabiity of Dean Barnett to retain the Deanery.

The Commission will consist of Archbishop Averill and two Auckland assessors, a clergyman and a layman. Evidence will be heard 'privately in Hamilton.

An interim injunction of the Supreme Court restraining the Bishop from taking other action against the Dean will probably be withdrawn.
