LONDON, Nov. 28. In the House of Commons, excitement arose in the Committee stage on the Unemployment Insurance Bill when the Conservatives decided to support a Liberal amendment making the payment of insurance money to pepsons under the age of eighteen years conditional upon their attendance at some coarse of instruction.

K.t. Hon M iss Bond field opposed the amendment on the ground that it was impracticable, as any machinery for the giving of the instruction did not exist.

For some time it was believed that the Government would be defeated. However, the amendment was negatived. The voting was:— For the amendment 167. ■

Against the amendment 237

Majority against 70. The Labourites cheered the result of the division. One Labourite shouted: “The new Coalition won’t work!’’
