NEW GOLD RECOVERY PROCESS
“ Australia is blazing a trail for the rest of the world in the realm of metallurgy,” declared Mr Reid the Principal of the School of Mines, at Adelaide. He was referring to the new process which is being perfected at the Port I’irie smelters.
This, he said, would revolutionise load-smelting throughout the world. Leading American smelters were awaiting permission to send metallurists to see the process in operation with a view to adopting it. The process was one for separating gold and silver from lead and converted the present involved method into a continuous and straightforward one. It also greatly reduced the cost of plant.
