CONVENT JUBILEE

TIMARU CELEBRATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association). TIMARU, Nov. 27. A civic reception was to-day accorded here to Archbishop Redwood of Wellington, Bishop Brodie of Christchurch and Bishop Whyte of Dunedin, and to other clergy who are visiting Timaru in, connection with the Golden Jubilee of the Convent of the Sacred Heart. There was a very large attendance of the public a.t the welcome. The present occasion is a unique one, in that Archbishop Redwood, who is the senior Catholic Bishop of the world, laid the foundation stone of the Timaru Sacred Heart Convent on February ■lst, 1880. This evening the parishioners are presenting the Rev. Father Peoples, S.M., with an illuminated address on the occasion of the silver jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood.
