ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING f

The annual congregational meeting of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was held last night. The various reports of the church’s activities were presented as follows : —Session Report, (Mr W. Barrowman); Managers, (Mr Janies King) ; Sunday School, (Mr James Park); P.W.M.U/ (Mrs Preston) ; Ladies Guild, (Mrs Thompson); Young Men’s Bible Class, (Mr M. Ridland); Young Women’s Bible Class (Miss Goudie); Scots’ Memorial (Mr A. B. King). All the reports indicated progress and all the funds were in credit. The period covered by the reports was 16 months to fit.in with the altered date of the General Assembly. During that time £583 had been contributed for the general fund, and about £SOO for other purposes,, Including the Scots’ Memorial. That fund now stood at £2065 4s 2d. A definite advance was made by the meeting in connection with the proposed new church. A resolution was passed that an effort be made to secure sufficient funds by the close of the financial year to warrant the commencement of the new church. In the meantime the Scots Memorial Committee was instructed to secure necessary information regarding plans and probable cost.

The following were elected as a Committee of Management: W. Goodfellow, L. Gooch, J. King, A. B. King, W. T. Morpeth, A. Parkhill, S. J. Preston, D. Stevenson, W. Wilson, S. Woods.

The Rev. J. W. Hayward expressed his thanks to all who had worked so willingly, and a cheque was presented to Miss Elsie Robinson in recognition of her services as organist.
