The congregation of the Presbyterian Church last night decided unanimously to extend a call to William Elliott of Knox Church, Wanganui.

The bonus to members of Parliament will also be refused by Mr W. J. Poison (member for Stratford). In a statement to supporters, Mr Poison said he was absent from the House through illness, when the question was before the House, but he had previously intimated his opposition to the proposal. At a largely attended and representative meeting of supporters Mr Poison’s attitude was endorsed.

OILFIELDS REPORT

GISBORNE, Nov. 25

Taranaki oil report:—Gisborne No. 2 well, engine and boilers are on the site, good progress has been made towards completion of erection work. Katumu No. 1 test hole was drilled to 500 feet in sandy shale. The work was delayed by bad weather and difficulty in transporting supplies.
