L. S. Chamberlain’s six-roomed homestead at Hairini, five miles from Te Awnmutu., was totally destroyed by fire early on Sunday morning,;,:; Mrs Chamberlain was awakened by a crash and found the. whole .. She rescued 'her children but valuable furniture, including old , silver,, and a library were lost. The motor slied, ear and dairy were also destroyed.‘ ; insurances are: on the buildings £6OQ_, contents £SOO, car £250; all in the .British Traders Office. z l -; *. ,vj
Chamberlain is at present anpinmate of the Rotorua. Hospital and had.a very serious operation last Wednesday.
