BURNED TO DEATH
LEAVES NOTE FOR CORONER

AUCKLAND, Nov. 22. . ! i The remains of George A. Thurgopu, aged GO years, who lived alone, were found in the burning ruins of his home at Swanson this morning. The house was seen in Haines shortly before 11.30 last night, -.and nqlhiiig could be clone to save the building. This morning inquiries were made for Thurgood, and as he could not be located, an endeavour was made to search the debris. When that was done, the remains of the .missing man were found beside the wreckage of lI• o bed. The house hud boon completely burned, and only the outer walls were standing, and near it were the remains of what appeared to have been a double-barrelled gun. Thurgood is stated to have been in iml life-rent health of late, and to have been suffering from nerve strain and worry. The police found a note in Urn fowl-house addressed to the. Coroner.
