BOXING ASSOCIATION

A special meeting of the Hokitika Boxing Association was held on Monday ('veiling at Keller’s rooms at < o’clock. 'Present: —Messrs F. McGregor (President), hi. M. Conlson. It. Furness, J. Johnson, F. Ballinger, It. Heenan, and E. M. Best. 'i he minutes were, confirmed and correspondence received. Ellery (Westport heavyweight champion) wrote accepting the Association’s terms for six round bout with M. Houston.— Received. C. O’Neil wrote accepting match for Duffy with J. Atkinson (Hokitika). — Received, ceived. The following entries were received for the tourney, accompanied by forfeit fees:— lies Baker, J. Johnson, N. Harris, A. Vincent. Mens Morgan, Les Morgan, McGill, Walsh, Mataich, Bovd, Cook, G. Davidson, M.. Davidson, Hedwig. Greymoutli-—.). Wingham, •). lviely, It:llimore, R. Roily, W. Marsh. The Greymoutli Association has not so far been able to locate suitable opponents for Ferguson or Wright for special six-round contests. 1 urtlser advice was expected from F. O’Neil. The Secretary Wits authorised to inquire at Grey mouth if there were any possibility of opponents being found lor either Ferguson or Wright, Resolved to have medal forwarded to J. Croft, also attend to engraving of C. Moore’s medal. A cheque covering donations from W. Ritchie and others in Ivoiterangi district was received with thanks. The Secretary gave notice of his transfer to Millerton. The matter of appointing another secretary was hold over in the meantime. The Treasurer (F. Ballinger) and D. R. Dowell were appointed to supervise the coming tourney. The members of the Association then adjourned to bid farewell to their departing secretary. The Association intends along with other sporting bodies to suitably recognize Mr Best’s many good qualities and this will take the form of a sportsmen’s presentation at a date when Mr Best will be invited to Hokitika for this purpose.
