ACTED QUEERLY
YOUTH WHO STOLE A HORSE
(By Telegraph—Per Press Associat.on.)
NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 19. Alfred William Barlow, -a young man,, was found guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court to-night of the theft of a horse, and was remanded for sentence. The jury strongly recommended him to mercy. The evidence showed that Barlow and a young companion evolved a scheme to go'droving. They each secured a horse at Stratford, the accused taking one from a lane, and they rode to Taumarunui, where the accused exchanged the horse which lie rode for another. His companion told how the accused acted queerly on the ride, and frequently fired a rifle, the barrel of which had been cut down.
