FRUIT EXPORT

WELLINGTON, Nov. 20.
A report of the Director of Horticulture Division showed the totiil quantity ol' fruit exported last season was 9u2.157 cases. Of this' quantity 738,701 cases of apples and 55.024 cases of pears were shipped to Great Britain, 159,837 cases of apples and 4,087 cases oi pears to South America, 12,000 cases of apples to Canada, and some 2,400 cases of apples to Honolulu and Pacific Islands.
A FATALITY
AUCKLAND, Nov. 20,
Jaeintho St. Claire Dahneida, otherwise known as- Joseph Sinclair, was struck by a sling of hooks on the Northern Steamship Coy’s schooner “Pono” on Monday and died at the hospital this morning* He was a married man with a family.

There is considerable agitation over the unexpected closing and sale of Scots College, which appear to have aroused much resentment, now the transaction is actually completed* Much correspondence has appeared on the subject and an indignation meeting is to be held, though it is pot clear what the protestors expect to accomplish,
A BANKRUPTCY
HAMILTON, November 20,
The Official Assignee announced at a meeting of creditors this morning that he would bring an action for alleged contempt of court against Frank Thompson Irvine, a bankrupt farmer of Orini, who.failed to attend a meeting, although notified. Irvine bankrupted on the petition of the owner of the farm which he was share-milking. The owner had sued for £7OO odd under th,e agreement and accepted judgment by consent for £175, which Irvine had failed to pay.

AUCKLAND, November 20,
Godfrey Ohms, aged 40,. an Auckland building contractor, was fined £SO and his license cancelled for twelve months at the Police Court ifor being-intoxica-ted while in charge of a motor car at Newmarket.
DOCTOR FINED £o
AUCKLAND, November 20.
Doctor James Walker Harper was fined £5 for throwing bottles from liis surgery, on the second floor, Pacific buildings, Wellesley Street, on . Saturday night, to which' charge he pleaded guilty, A .charge of drunkenness was withdrawn. A charge of damaging the Police Station cell to the extent of £1 was dismissed on payment of costs.
COAL MINE DISPUTE.
HAMILTON, November 20
Owing to a dispute over the dismissal of a miner, a stoppage of work occurred at Glen Massey colliery yesterday. The dispute was still unsettled this morning.
STORE BURGLED.

Burglars entered the store of the Shannon. Dairy Co., at Shannon, last night and stole goods valued at about £IOO.
