AMERICAN EARTHQUAKE

(Received this dnv at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, November 19. The earthquake near Halifax has interrupted both trans-Atlantic and Imperial cables. Repairs are expected to take some time. The Western Union Commercial branch cables are also broken. The earthquake was apparently centred off Newfoundland.

LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received this dav at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, November 19. At the wool sales 11,860 bales were sold of which 3,449 hales were New Zealand. There was an excellent selection and large attendance, animated competition and few withdrawals. Prices compared with October closing were as follows:—Merinos,fine Continental sorts five per cent afid crossbreds fine, seven and a half per cent dearer. Medium low par to five per cent., slips and lower grades five per cent dearer. Finer were firm but unchanged.
