PRISONER ESCAPES

AUCKLAND, Nov. 20

While a number of prisoners were pailaided Mount Eden gaol preparatory to selection ol squads for a days’ work on Monday, a prisoner named Seckington, aged 23, bolted, tie scrambled through a barbed wire fence and thicket into the plantation surrounding the Colonial Ammunition Company’s Works. The other prisoners were rushed hack inside the prison walls and an armed party proceeded to search, with a result that the fugitive was located, covered with a rifle and gave himself up.
