“MATCH KING’S” BID. k . BERLIN, October 3. An “indiscreet” newpaper has made it known that the “Match King,” Herr Jvar Ivreuger, the head of the gigantic Swedish Match Trust, has been negotiating for a German match monopoly in exchange for a loan of several million pounds. The Swedish Match Trust is apparently following the tactics successfully used in France,, 'Hungary, Rumania, and in many other European countries, where it has stepped in at a time of financial stringency and acquired a monoplv against a large loan. The trust already controls about 70 per cent, of the German match industry, but the remaining German-con-trolled factories are now protected by .legislative groups in deliveries to a central sales syndicave, and controls prices. r ' ’ ' The whole industry, however —German and Swedish controlled, alike — has been suffering under the 'competition of cheap Soviet matches “dumped” in Germany.
