On the occasion, of liis retirement from the position of general manager of the Timaru Herald Coy., after a levied of 28 years, in the company’s service, Mr M. J. Doyle was to-d<p met by members’ of the directorate and reorosentatives of .every department of the Herald and made the recipient of a handsome tea and coffe'service in recognition of bis long and valued association with the company.

The presentation was made by Mr i K. P. Kerr, chairman of directors. who paid a tribute to the woik of Air Doyle, who had worked himself up! ■ fro -i a clerk to general manager and. < director. Replying, Mr'Doyle traced the rapid progress of the Herald during the past 28 years and paid a tribute to the loyalty and co-operation of th& staff.
