ARBITRATION COURT. SHEARING CONTRACTORS APPLICATIONS. PALMERSTON N., Nov. 15. Unique circumstances were revealed by an application before the Arbitration Court when shearing contractors of Feilding sought to have Levin and Coy., Ltd. added as .a party to the Wellington Shearers and Shed Hands Award. The firm objected on the grounds that they' were working under the Wool, Hides, Grain, Produce and Store Employees Award. The firm’s representative said the men were employed as shed hands and were also called up to do any other work required. The shearing hoard employees received more than the award rates. The wool pressers did not receive the shearing rates as they might only be engaged in that particular work for a few hours a day.

“This is a unique case,” said His Honour, M,r Justice Frazer. “ The award is framed to deal with ordinary shearing teams visiting farms, and this seems to be a case for special conditions.” Decision was reserved.
