(Received this day at noon.) LONDON, November 12
The Chairman (Lord Melchett) moved at a meeting of the Council of Empire Producers’ Organisation, that immediate steps be taken to promote a trade agreement between Britain allcl the Dominions, with a view to the dc-, velopmeut of the Empire as an economic unit. He pointed out the urgency c'f over-industrialised Britain balancing with over-agriculturalised other units. The Empire resources in raw materials gave the Empire an irresistible bargaining power with foreign countries. Jt was important that Australian and other business men desired to participate in the proposed Imperial Business Conference concurrently with the next Imperial Conference, to consider Empire development. Harwell and others supported the resolution, which was carried.
