BRITAIN GIVES BACK
LAND SHE HELD IN CHINA

RUGBY, Nov. 12. An agreement has been reached between the British Government and the National Government of the Republic of China, providing for ' the return to China, as from the 15th inst., of the area of land known as the British Concession- at Chiukiang, which was leased to the British Government in perpetuity in 1861. .The British Municipal administration ofthis area will be dissolved, and the British municipal regulations repealed, as from the fifteenth inst. The Chinese National Government has agreed, as from the same date to.grant Chinese deeds of a perpeturil lease, in exchange for the documentsof title issued by the British Government. The agreement was embodied in an exchange of notes which took, . place in Nanking on the 31st of oc-‘ tober.
