MINERS’ TROUBLE

WESTPORT, November 12.

While Denniston, Millerton, .Stockfj ton,' and Westport mam mineis have all decided in favour of a strike as a means to settle the Blackball trouble, the action that will he taken by the co-operative mines is not known. ■/ ,

DISTRICT COUNCIL

The-following telegram was addressed to the Unions of the West . Coast yesterday from R. McGiegor, 1 Secret tary of the District Councili, “ Recommendations elf the Distijjjt \ Council that mine workers of the West/ Coast’ strike in support of the Blackball miners was endorsed by all the Unions with the exception of the State Mines.”

MINERS’ NATIONAL COUNCIL. COAL OWNERS’’ ATTITUDE. ./

The present "attitude/ of the coal owners r organisation to the dispute is not yet defined. Recently, in reply to an advice ‘from the United Mine Workers’ Executive;" the Secretary /if the coal owners, Mr Bishop, stated that the directors of the Blackball Coy., were supporting the action taken, by their manager. It is, howeyer, probable that representatives of the owners’ and workers’ Dominion organisations will confer on' the dispute next week, in the event of\no settlement being reached this w^ek.
