On a. mission which means a great ' 'aeai to the seed of industry of this Dominion and scientific.development of disease free crops, Dr Cunningham, thief Mycologist of the Plant Research station of Palmerston North, is ' entering'on the final stages of an extensive .tour abroad. As representative of New Zealand, he attended the imperial Mycological Conferences in .■/London for the second occasion, and -when he returns it is anticipated highly important information will be available concerning'the methods of control , at plant diseases in,, other countries. " Caiiuda, Cunningham arranged Übipments to the .Dominion of disease .: hues of . potatoes, turnips, find . swedes. If suitable they will be propagated on areas at Massey College :and the South Island. . ! : j n England, Cunningham investigat«d the problem of swede seed, free of - dry foot, urging growers ' there to lake precautions against the disease. Another line of investigation deals with virus disease in potatoes. Dr Cunningham expects to' return in January.
