Her many friends will learn with regret of the death at Wellington yesterday of Miss Margaret (Peg) Burke, formerly a well-known Greymouth. resident, and the second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs E. A. Burke,, of Greymouth. The late Miss Burke, who until her health became affected, about eighteen months ago, was head of the showroom, for the firm of Louisson’s, at Nelson, and formerly head milliner in Greymouth for the firm of C. Smith Ltd., and previously was with the,local firm of Thomas arid Meßeath. She had latterly been residing with > her sister, Miss Tilly Burke, at Wellington. Sne is survived by three sisters (Mrs M. Phillips, of Greymouth; Mrs W. Galloway, of the Shell Coy. Wellington; and Miss Tilly Burke, Wellington) ; and by one brother (Mr J. J. L. Bunce. of the Deeds Department, Wellington). 1 , - • •

The road between Stillwater and Xgahere was the scene of a couple of motor accidents, at the week-end. On Sunday' hfternoon a Ford touring car oelonging to Mr Morris, of the Ngahere railway staff, with four persons aboard, by some means left the road near the bridge at this side of Ngaliere. It turned right over in its descent down the bank, landing on the hood, hut the blackberries prevented it possibly from, falling right into the river. Fortunately none of the four occupants suffered any injury. The car was subsequently recovered by Mr G. Schaef and brought to Greymouth for repairs. The other mishap happened earlier in the same vicinity, when a lorry belonging to Mr Martin, of Blackball, got off the road and was upset. Nobody was hurt, but the vehicle required repairs.
