TAUPO RAILWAY
STOPPAGE UPHELD,
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)
r WELLINGTON, November; 8. The opinion that the action' of the Government in discontinuing the Ro-torua-Taupo railway was thoroughly justified, is contained in the. report of the Public Petitions M to Z Committee on the prayer of Mr E. Vaile and eighty-eight others for the resumption of the railway. The report was presented to the House of Representatives last night. ' j ' The Committee recommends that no action be taken. “ The committee is also of opinion,” states the report-, “ that the Government should consider the putting into operation of an exhaustive experimental test on a limited area, of say,- ten thousand acres of better class pumice land, to be brought into permanent pasture, on the principle of mass-,’em-ployment.” i’
