President Hoover issued a proclamation setting aside November lltli as Armistice Day and calling noon the people of America to mark the anniversary with “appropriate ceiemonies giving expression to our gratitude for peace .and hope and desire that our friendly • relations with other peoples may continue.”

STOCK MARKET ’'QUIETER

NEW YORK, November 8

The Stock Market became more like its normal self, there being no wild gyrations of prices or trading. The market opened higher and then receded slightly so that a majority of shares had a quiet day at about yesterday’s closing averages. With a few notable exceptions like General Electric, down ten points at the close, the trading volume was much decreased compared with other short sessions. Brokers expressed satisfaction at the more stable behaviour, some predicting a series of quiet markets with narrfiw price movements.
