FIRE IN SEWELL STREET

The firebell rang out a vigorous alarm this morning about 2.40 o’clock \ a fire having broken out in a residence in upper Sewell Street occupied by Mr P. Hewer, between the residences of Air W. Braddon and Mrs Sullivan. The fire had a complete hold when discovered. Air Hewer was alone in the house, Mrs Hewer and two children being at the Forks for a few days. Air Hewer was awakened by smoke and found the house well ablaze, the outbreak having apparently started in the kitchen. Though the Brigade was smartly on the scene there . was ng hope of saving the building which was. destroyed, together with the contents.
