EVERYBODYS PICTURES'

‘‘WATERFONT ”

_ TO-NIGHT

Jack MuUiall and Dorothy Mackaill, Ifirsi National’s cinematic team, have giveit.vthe screen a .number of delightful pi*4yres, but 'ivithbut doubt their last venture, “"Waterfront,” to be shown at .the ..Princess .The.atre;. - is. head. and shoulders above anything they have dope before. “ Waterfront ’ 1 is a de-r lightful, ifast moving tale of life around the. docks and piers of a big harbour. In , this particular instance it is the famed Golden Gate harbour of San Francisco and a better choice could not have been made. Miss Mackaill is the daughter of the captain of a tugboat. She is wild about; the sea, wants to sail to foreign shores and can’t get enough of the salty air. On the other hand, her father; ably enacted ■ by Knute EricSon/'is tlirCcl-.of vvater and tugboats. His great is to settle down on a farm. Enter Mulhall in the guise of an oiler on a trans-Pacific steamer. He falls for the girl, and she falls for him, only to fall out in a hurry when .he confides a -fondness for dry land himself. How everyone is eventually satisfied provides one of the most ajmusing and thrilling stories imaginable. Much of the credit for the success of this picture must go to William A. Seiter, the director. There is not a rough spot from beginning to end and every advantage has been taken to ixis&re laughs. In the supporting cast, which is an admirable one, the following-.- ; deserve special mention: Ben Hendricks, Frances Hamilton, James Bradbury, -six, - Pat Harmon, and Bill Dailey. A topical and comedy will complete a fine display to-night.
