MEDIATOR S ADDRESS
TO COMPULSORY CONFERENCE

The coal dispute in New South Wales, which has already dragged on for nine months, is now in the hands of a mediator, Air C. Hibble, who, at tlie request of tne Prime Alinister, Air •J. 11. Scullin, is holding a compulsory conference, under the Industrial Peace Act.
Roth sides are strongly represented
Air Hibble opened tlie proceedings to-day with an expression of regret that the community has been allowed to suffer so long, and declaring that a remedy must now be found for a settlement of the trouble.
He gave an intimation that he was there as the representative of the community, which was looking to him lor help towards the solution of the deadlock.
