SELF-MADE LORD.
The death of “Lord” John Sanger recalls that diverting work the autobiography of his tfather “Lord George.” This title was conferred on the celebrated circus proprietor by himself because he got tired of seeing “Buffalo' Bill” described as the Hon. William Cody. “Hang it!” he said, “I can go one better than that. If lie’s the honourable then I’m Lord George Sanger from this out.” Mr John Sanger his eldest son, was born in an unhappy hour. His father’s show had just been wrecked by an explosion, and in the turmoil his money-box had been stolen leaving him with only a few shillings. He had to part from his wife and go round trying to make some more. They were a very devoted couple.
