TEAROHA, November 6,

James Alexander Hamilton, single, aged 33, committed suicide with a razor in an outhouse on the farm where he was employed at Waitoa. yesterdaymorning. Evidence was given at the inquest this morning by bis brother that deceased was subject to drinking bouts and that he just returned from Auckland where ne overstayed his holiday by a week.

YOUNG WOMAN DROWNED. WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. A drowning fatality occurred this morning at Aft. Alaunganui. Edith Aubertin. of Rotorua, aged 22, spending a holiday with her mother, went for ail early morning bathe in the breakers. There was a big surf running and deceased was unnole to swim. She appeared to be dragged under by the strong current near the shore. Those on the beach beard her cries for help. Another bather and several of those on the beach rushed to her assistance. They found the body ten minutes later floating in the same spot. Artificial respiration for two hours was unavailing.

THE MISSING MAIL BAG

■WELLINGTON, Nov. 6

When asked to-day if they had received any advice regarding the contents of the bag of registered mail for Wellington, which had disappeared at Perth, the Post Office aathtvities replied in the negative. The list of the contents of each -egistercd mail bag arrives inside the bag itself, no forward list or advice over being sent.

WOMAN’S SUICIDE. AUCKLAND, Nov. 6. A verdict of suicide was returned by Coronet Hunt, S.M., at the inquest into the death of Airs Annie Rogers, aged 58, who was found dead in a room in her house in Nelson Street. The cause of death was poisoning. Deceased was discovered by a neighbour. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said deceased had been summoned to give evidence in the Supreme Court in a forgery case, and this had worried her. She had been addicted to drink for some time until she was m no condition to do anything. YOUTH BEFORE THE COURT. AVESTPORT, Nov. 6. In the Children"® Court to-day, Felix Mulligan was fined £3 or 14 days’ imprisonment, on two charges of indecent exposure and on a charge of indecent assault, to which he pleaded not guilty, he was committed to tho Supreme Court for trial. A PERFECT ALIBI. AUCKLAND. Nov. 5. A perfect alibi was established by a motorist in the Onehunga Police Court before the Magistrate, Air F. H. Levien, yesterday morning, when he was charged with speeding. Evidence as to the offence was given by the Onehunga Borough Council’s traffic inspector, but the detention was able to prove that at the t me in question he was giving evidence in the Auckland Police Court before ATr Levien himself. The case was dismissed.
