BIBLES IN HOTELS

In pursuance of his. work of placing Bibles in the bedrooms of the leading hotels in New Zealand for the use of the travelling public, The Rev. David" Calder, Dominion secretary of tho British and Foreign Bible Society, is at present visiting Dunedin. He lias already completed his tasks in the" area extending from Auckland to, Timaru, and since his arrival in Dune-.; din last week he has received sufficient’ support to warrant the ".placing off Bibles in the lending hotels throughoutthis city and province of Otagb. Mr Calder estimates that* up'to the present he has distributed 3000 Bibles and by Easter, or perhaps a little later, he considers that 5000 will have been placed. The volumes are handsomely bound in black leather, qhd the print is a clear lonic type. - Bibles are to be found in the bedrooms of many of the leading hotels in other parts of the world, and the movement in New Zealand originated with the Dominion branch, of the British and Foreign Bible Society, which agreed to undertake the task and to subsidise the money raised by Christian people for the furtherance of the work.
