ACQUITTED OF MURDER. CHARGE AUCKLAND, November 5. Mrs Pyle, widow, of Auckland, was acquitted of the murder charge which arose out of the death of a. single woman, Amelia Mary Gertrude Pipe, who came from Wailii to Auckland in July hut after returning home took ill and died in the Waihi hospital, two doctors certifying death being due to septicaemia, following .an, illegal'operation. The allegation 'was that'accused had performed an operation, hut in summing up Justice Hardman pointed out the Crown’s case was very weak as there was no direct evidence of the offence by accused, while the girl’s dying depositions definitely stated the accused had merely examined her and hadn’t performed an operation.
