MELBOURNE, October 22

Called upon to protect his mother and sister from their father, who was said to have violently attacked them on Monday night, Basil Alfred Harrison, 27, of Alphington, is alleged to have picked up a single-barrelled gun and shot his father, Charles Harrison, in the neck and chest. He died almost immediately.

Basil Harrison was charged at the City Court this morning with having murdered his father.

Seuior-H&tective William Jones said that the shooting was the reshit of a quarrel, which had taken place among the family. He asked for a remand for eight days, pending further inquiries. 4

■ Harrison was remanded until November 30, on bail amounting to £SOO.
