The Daily Express’s .Moscow correspondent states; Wealthy landowners iu many parts of Russia have begun a kind of guerilla warfare on the local Soviet authorities as a protest against attempts to force the peasants to give up their stores of grain for the benefit of the people of tile great cities, who are faced with the fear of famine during the coming winter. Tiie reply of the authorities is the revolver of the executioners, who arckept busy each day. 'the ravages of the anti-Soviet terrorists are being executed with amazing boldness in the Ukraine, where the secret societies post lists openly warning the intended Government victims that their homes will be burned. One society fired thirty buildings on co-operative farms in a single night. The Government, in retaliation, announced fourteen death sentences on Saturday, of whom eleven wero peasants. The Courts have pronounced twelve more sentences upon upper-class peasants, on Sunday for murder and arson.
