NEW DREDGE
ARRIVAL AT PORT CHALMERS
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.’
DUNEDIN, Nov. 4
After a 97 days voyage from Clyde the Harbour Board’s new dredge, Otakou, was berthed at Port Chalmers this morning. She had an uneventful passage to Colombo, but encountered heavy weather on the long leg to Fremantle making only forty miles on one day. The delay caused anxiety concerning the oil fuel, but she called at Carnarvon getting a small supply to carry her to Fremantle.
Her ’sailing master was Captain N. Manning, most of whose 00 years at sea have been spent piloting tugs and dredges to all parts of the world. He took Sir Thomas. Lipton’s >nclit Shamrock IV from Now York to England in the worst of weather.
