From a brilliantly illuminated searchlight mooring tower, R.lOl cast off at eight in the evening for the first ■nigb'fv cruise. Tt passed over London' at 10 o’clock in drizzling rain, rendering it almost invisible, and headed for Portsmouth to carry out speed turning trials in the vicinity of the Isle of Wight, returning to Bedford .at six this morning.
