CYCLONE DAMAGE
IN NORTH AUCKLAND.

AUCKLAND, Nov. 1
A cyclonic disturbance swept over a wide area north of Auckland last night. Although of short duration, it caused considerable damage, particularly in Kumeu and New Lynn districts. The rear portion of a house owned by L. N. Dormer in Craigbank Avenue, New Lynn, was struck by the cyclone, one of the chimneys falling. The roof at the back of the house was lifted over a foot, and rain poured into the kitchenette. The damage to tiie bouse is estimated at £l5O. The storm broke over Kumeu with terrific violence, about six o’clock. It commenced with a sudden gust of wind which swept along a narrow path about a quarter of a mile wide, striking the home of Mrs E. Sell raft The house was shaken, pictures falling to the floor, and the terrified family rushed from tnc building into a paddock. Large macrocarpa trees surrounding the homestead were torn up by the roots.
